Clean Air Month

This May, RighTime Home Services is celebrating Clean Air Month! Educating the people of Orange County about the influence clean air has, inside and outside of the home.

One simple, yet effective option to improve your home’s air quality is an air filtration system. Air filtration systems remove a range of airborne contaminants that can contribute to poor air quality, including microbial growth, dust particles, pet dander and second-hand smoke. Here is a quick guide from RighTime on air filtration options in your home:

  • HEPA Filtration. HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air. This air purification technology was originally developed during World War II to remove radioactive dust particles from the air protecting soldiers’ respiratory systems. Today, it is often used to filter household air, with the ability to trap up to 99.97% of all airborne particles. These systems remove pollen, mold spores, dust mites and other potential allergens.
  • Activated Carbon Filters. Activated Carbon filters have small absorbent pores that chemically react with pollutants as they pass through the filter. This causes the pollutants to bond with the carbon and become trapped. These purifiers are effective at neutralizing smoke, odors and chemical fumes from the air.
  • Ultraviolet Light Air Purifiers. UV air filters kill bacteria and other airborne microorganisms by using ultraviolet light to destroy them as they pass through the filter. However, you will still need to rely on traditional filtration to remove dust, allergens and other particulates from the air.
