Recently, we shared about our involvement in the Be The Match® charity hockey game. The sold-out game, held on Sunday, August 16th at the Toyota Sports Center was a huge success, raising a total of $20,000 for the foundation.
Be The Match is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program and has managed the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world. Be The Match works every day to save lives through transplant. For the thousands of people diagnosed every year with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma, Be The Match encourages them that a cure does exist.
Inside the event, Be The Match set up a volunteer area where fans had the opportunity to learn more about the donation process for their National Marrow Donor Program. The fans embraced the foundation and 15 people got swabbed, potentially becoming a match to be a blood marrow donor.
The game kept fans on the edge of their seats and RighTime’s very own Bobby McGinnis led the scoring with an unassisted goal, one assisted goal and the game winning goal with a pass from LA Kings legend, Bernie Nicholls!
